Up Up and Away!!!!

Mikayla had a FABULOUS time at VBS this week.  The theme this year was Sky VBS.  She really learned a lot and of course enjoyed the songs and lessons and crafts.

As always, they have fabulous props.  (ha ha...like the prop plane....)

I will NOT be dramatic.... oh no I won't......

Here's my girl a few months ago......  I just can't believe how she's growing so big and strong and beautiful.  She's really not a baby any more :(

She continues to show me what a mature 6 year old...wait as she says "6 1/2" year old, she has such a GOOD heart.  She heard that there were children that were sick and/or lost their hair.  She has been worrying about these children. 

She had decided a few weeks ago she wanted to cut her hair to help these children......she wants to donate her hair to Locks for Love......

HER HAIR!!!!!!!  *GASP*  *GASP*  her beautiful long hair!!!!!

IF we decided to cut the required 10 inch minimum.... this is where it will be...... from rear end to shoulder blades......  I will NOT freak out....oh no I won't!!!!

Michael got a tender moment with her..... we both tried to say no...you don't need to do it.  She says but I want to mom, I have something that can help someone else.... (maturity... wow)

Ok wait...I'm freaking out... oh YES I AM!!!!

SO.............. after much talking.....

we did it..... *gasp gasp*

She couldn't put the mirror down....she felt completely liberated.....

I do have to confess though, I was crying....hard....while doing it.... I can't believe how attached I am to her hair.  She kept saying it's ok.... I love it!!!  and she would stop me to give me a hug......and said, don't cry mommy....it's awesome!

Oh gosh I love this girl!!

WOW!!!!  She twirled...she spun....she kept giving me hugs and said, it's ok Mommy...thank you for doing this!

She's also excited that she can wear her hair down sometimes now too, the tangles wern't worth it to us before to let her wear it long often...well she wears it long all weekend but not during school/camp days.  So I guess she can now.

I really do love it.... it's SO cute AND we are so much closer to her bangs catching up with the length of her hair as they continue to grow out.

This morning.... um.... she got up, I took out the night pony.... we brushed it, she grabbed a head band.... DONE!!  wait...no hair play :(  wow  I don't like that!!

um.... maybe I do like this after all.... um... WOW..... maybe...

I am still freaked.... oh yes I am....

I love it...but FREAKED!

woo hoo VBS time again!!!!

Little Miss is SOOOO excited about VBS this year.  She really enjoys herself for sure.  She even had to call my dad to make sure that he remembered that it was going to be VBS week.  HA!!

Here she is bright and early this morning!!  Ready to go!!  (I have since heard that she not only had a great time, she ate a good lunch and FELL ASLEEP!!!)  She doesn't nap anymore so I really think she had herself all worked up about the fun ahead this week and just crashed after the first day!

Such a "teenager"  sheesh....

One of our newest home improvement projects.  We went from this front door ..... 

To this front door!!  It's amazing!!!  I can't believe what a difference the black door makes.  Except now we keep thinking the door is open because it's dark...HA!

I love getting home projects done!!!  My list has been VERY long lately!

Happy Father's Day!

Saturday Jason, Whitney, Bryce and Conner came over for lunch and fun.  Conner is such a cutie and Bryce and Mikayla have an absolute blast when they're together!

Right before this, Bryce was making the cutest face ever while painting his pet rock.  Who doesn't love pet rocks, right!!  I made a lady bug and a turtle.  Mikayla made a couple of frogs.

Mikayla can't get enough of holding Conner.

Michael and Jason were out shooting tennis balls over the fence with golf clubs.  Well technically just one but Michael swears it went into the trees in the back.  (Michael picked out the golf clubs for his 15 years of service gift from work).

Here Mikayla is getting ready for Father's Day!  Such concentration!!

 

She made Michael a frame, a card (you'll see it below) and filled in a questionnaire.  The funniest things on the questionnaire were "What does your dad like to wear"... she said "his white shirt" another funny was "how old is your dad" she said 25 years old.  Oh baby we wish we were that young again!!!

Mikayla is very into the hand games that you chant and clap with another person.... she and I are quite good I have to say, the only unfortunate thing is that the songs stay in my head for DAYS!!!   but that's ok, it's fun.  If you come over, you WILL be subjected in doing the chants.... she cornered my dad here...he's a good sport and it's FUNNY watching!!!

I have so much fun watching the men in our world doing this with her.  Michael is down right hysterical....Jason did GREAT and Papa tries really hard and does good too.  She'll usually say mommy, come show them with me...LOL

We had a great and busy and fun filled weekend!!! 



The Fairy Flies Again

Well it's time again!!  Except this time......

The painfully loose tooth.....  

Only hung in for a couple of days versus a couple of weeks, torturing me, I mean HER, with when it's going to come out!!!  

We were eating dinner and her bottom loose tooth, hit the top growing in tooth...it hurt... she cried because it hurt... she doesn't usually cry like that AT all.... so afterwards, we were in the car running our last errand, I hopped out and said, OK, I'm going to hold this tooth...you open your mouth and lets see what happens.  (never mind the day before I was trying to get it.... we tried pliers....we tried fingers...and I was WAY too squeemish)...ICK

but anyway I said OK..... she said OK.

Well...first time...nothing happened.....

Second time..... I wasn't really paying attention, just holding that teeny tiny, itty bitty loose tooth, she opened her mouth...POP....out it came....  wait....what!!!  I didn't realize it until I looked in my fingers and well....her tooth was in my hand and not her mouth!!!  WOO HOO!!

DONE, it's outta there!!! 

PHEW..... (and a little bit eeewwwwww)

She's so happy!!!!!  Snaggle tooth!!!! 

So you can imagine the flurry of excitement!!!  THE TOOTH FAIRY IS COMING!!!!!!!!

Seriously 30 minutes later...new table cloth....2 minature tea sets set up...tooth in fancy wine glass, Mikayla feels ready to let the Tooth Fairy come...

Bed time took a LONG time.... every doll and animal got some love.... Like EVERY DOLL.... wow....

Ahhhh finally - she's asleep.

I love how magical it is to her.  It's really magical for me too :)

She was SOOOOOOO excited!  SERIOUSLY EXCITED!!!

She came down...it was much earlier this time (compared to the 2:00 am wake up).....it was early enough that Michael and I had to fake we were asleep, it was around 11:30 or so, I was reading and Michael was watching TV.  She came running down.... and said "OH MY GOSH SOMETHING SERIOUSLY EXCITING HAS HAPPENED"  we said, what's that, she said..."NOT only did the Tooth Fairy come....SHE FOUND MY TURTLE!!!"

That turtle has been "hiding" (aka was lost) for days now...we really couldn't find it (she has a strage attachment to this ceramic bobble head turtle).  We even said prayers to St. Anthony to help us find it.  SO in the Tooth Fairy's note, she made mention that she found it and for Mikayla not to forget to thank St. Anthony and don't you know, that's the FIRST thing she did!

Mikayla was beside herself.....

So this time she got $4 - $1 bills and a gold dollar and would you believe, there was even FAIRY DUST on the money... like it was practically pink!!!  A sticker coloring book and some sidewalk chalk and erasers.  (pretty good for short notice)....

Silly Tooth Fairy made a mess in the room.... there's fairy dust all over the floor, she must have had a good time dancing around!!  AND she even had some tea because the cups had been moved around!

Mikayla ended her day by being too excited to sleep, so she turned off all her stuff up there and came downstairs (with turtle in hand), she and I chatted like little girls in bed until almost 12:15.... Michael came in (he was still watching TV) and wondered what on earth was going on and why we were making so much racket... we quieted down after that....

She said Oh I just LOVE this!!!!!  Her happiness makes me giddy all the way down to my tippy toes!!

The weekend ended on an absolutely perfect note!!!  I love that little girl.

Next tooth out one will be the other top one...it's already loose..... (wonder how long I'll have to wait for this one....LOL)
