We had a wonderful time at the park the other day. Here is My Best Gal!!!! The many faces of Mikayla. I had a hard time choosing so here are a bunch :)

September 28, 2005

Our lives changed forever. My Mom was called home to be with God. Three years ago... I can't believe it. Time marches on.

I will never forget the events of that day. A very incredible and awesome thing happened just minutes before she passed, my sister wanted another private minute with her so my dad, Michael and I stepped outside the room and shut the door. We were about three to four feet away from the door and about 30 seconds later the door opened all by itself wide enough for someone to walk through and then it shut again. We truly believe with all out hearts that God himself walked into the room to get her and take her home. There is no way that the door could do that by itself but by the hand of God.

We still find great comfort in the fact that she no longer is in pain or sick or struggling just for breath. We miss her greatly and Mikayla will never know other than stories what an incredible and courageous woman, mother and friend my mom was.

She knew the time was coming and was trying to prepare all of us, we just didn’t want to believe it, she’d been through some very close calls over the last few years we thought this was going to be another one that she would pull out of but God had other plans for her. I'm sure it took more courage for her to face death like she did by talking to us and trying to prepare us than any of us know. So now she is and always will be our very special guardian angel.

Oh gosh, I'm just horrified at what happened to our beloved area, the whole landscape is so totally different and broken. It will be awhile before we will take the boat out just because of all the debris in the water and we're nervous about what we can't see beneath the water line. We draw almost 6 feet below the water line so that's a lot of space to damage the boat. Can you imagine, she survives the hurricane but gets broken going for a ride. So we'll wait awhile.

Here are some more picutures. I can only imagine what Galveston and the rest of the coast look like. It's so sad and now all the plant life is dying because of the harsh saltwater :(

Here is the entrance, we are thankful that they have guards at all the different marina entrances to keep the sight seers at bay, we have to show identification and marina documents before we're granted access.




Most of the boats in the background of this picture have also sunk to the bottom.

New Scrappy Technique

I worked on this page for a challenge that I'm participating on. I had duplicates of these pictures so I took the picture and ripped it and put it on top of the same picture but popped it up for effect/dimension. It looks really neat.

The news on our boat......

Well, Michael went down to the marina yesterday and this is what he saw......

This is the road into the marina....

I know and fully recognize that these are just boats to some.... but to us, it's our thing.... we spend our family time here, it represents love, laughter, hard work, joy, freedom and everything in between. It's our thing.......

By the Grace of God, in the middle of all of this massive destruction there are a few piers that are untouched and unharmed by the hurricane.... where our boat is located is on one of those few piers. She is completely unharmed, practically untouched, and just as perfect as when we last saw her.

We are so thankful, I can't even begin to express my gratitude. I am speechless.....

Hurricane Scrapping

Well, I was able to take advantage of a little down time, Mikayla and Michael were napping, even though it was still pouring outside it was light enough outside to shine some light on my scrapping area. I was able to work on some swap items but also did this layout. The true challenge was not using my cricut.... I had to get creative....hee hee

After the storm

We are SOOOOO thankful, only minimal damage to our fence and roof. No problem!!!! Only about 50-60 feet of fencing is broken. We'll take it. We are SOOOO thankful to be spared.

Hurricane Ike

I haven't been able update in awhile but here I am. Here are some of the storm clouds before the hurricane hit. They were awesome in real and the pictures don't do justice to how it actually felt, the air smelled different, there were no birds around, it was very still but the clouds were moving sooooo fast.





Once the storm hit, I was too chicken to go look outside and see what it was doing but just hearing the storm was enough for me, I didn't move, all I could do was stare at the window because if that board got sucked off I was grabbing Mikayla and running to a different room. It was incredible, I was scared for Mikayla, she woke up one time and asked what that noise was and I told her it was the wind, she said OK and went back to sleep.

We could hear the rumble (the typical train sound) of the tornados all around us and I was expecting the boards that Michael covered our windows with to be ripped off at any second because the winds were so intense. There are just no words to describe it.

I'm so thankful that no one in our immediate group of friends/family were hurt or property lost and I'm so thankful that Mikayla wasn't afraid at all, she all but slept right through it.

Clean boat!!!

Michael worked so hard yesterday on our boat, he just cleaned his heart out. The deck is shining!!! What a pretty boat!!! Hope she stays safe from hurricane Ike.......

Latest scrappy page

Here is my latest page, done late on Friday night.... needed to do something though, it feels as if I've been on a hiatus but I'm back baby!!!! The paper is clear transparency paper with white paper behind it. It's the first time I've worked with paper like that.

Choo Choo......

Mikayla is VERY into trains now and just has to wear them. We have one t-shirt w/trains on it and it does get dirty every now and again so I attempted to make her one. I found the printable iron on transfers at Hobby Lobby, printed it and this is what I came up with. I have another one I'll make for her too. She was SOOOOO happy!!!
