Patriotic decor and more

Well, I think we all know I may or may not have an unhealthy obsession with many crafting things and these marquee letters are no different.  I had a BLAST setting up my patriotic décor....I can't wait to set it up again for the Olympics too!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

WOO HOO!!!!! 

 

For Memorial Day we were trying a few fun foodie things that we don't usually make.  My dad came over for grilled steaks and corn on the cob OHHHH YUM!

 

I found this idea on pinterest....cookie bowls!! YUM!!! 

 

So I got some gluten free cookie mix.... YUM!

 

 

Ummmm.. total fail!

 

 

We ended up with this....

 

At least my watermelon lemonade slushies were wonderful!  These babies are on my OMG YES PLEASE list of summer drinks!

 

 

And Mikayla and I made some snickerdoodle ice cream too. (topped with cookie bowl crumbles) LOL

 

 

It was a great day!

 

Beauty

I choose to see the beauty in things..... I see beauty in treasure in this little girl :)

 

We went down to some of our favorite marina's for a drive through and a picnic.  Then we went down to Galveston and then stopped for a swim on the way back home again, my little fish LOVES to go swimming.

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

I think I'm convinced she's part mermaid! 

4th Grade year end party

We went to Mikayla's year end celebration last week!  It was FUN!! Her teacher also put together a fantastic slide show of the year..... I cannot believe how much Mikayla has learned and grown this year!  WHERE DID MY BABY GO!!!!  She left this lovely young lady in her place.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Field Day

Whew I'm telling you - the year end crazies are with us!!!!  After having to move field day three times because of weather.... They were able to finally have it!  We had to make our own Tshirts for the day - just so they were red.  Their class named their team and we ran with it.

 

We even made one for her teacher so they could match :)

They had a GREAT day! 

Busy days

Who says weekends are for rest??  They didn't have a Spanish study date at 8:00 in the morning on a Saturday.  (no picture proof for this one LOL)


They didn't have a school picnic a few hours later....

They didn't have a neighborhood spring fling and pool opening party......

Nor did they have a slumber birthday party later that day either! 

Whew!  All good things but wow, it was a really busy day!!

Our Final Little Flowers

What an incredible 5 years we have had with little flowers.  It is rather bittersweet coming to the end of our journey but what memories and friends we have made along the way.

 

 

 

We enjoyed our time together, I didn't capture a ton of pictures because it didn't feel necessary to.  We prayed, crafted, and played.We will always remember how it made us feel to be there and be together with our friends. 

 

The girls were giving their final good bye, everyone else had left before this and they were still playing together and had an impromptu group hug. 

 

 

It was a great experience.  We have learned a lot!!!

 

 

Our beautiful girl.... I hope she has such fond memories of growing up.  I hope she sees how much fun we have together and not the "working" side of parenting.  I hope I make it look easier than I think I think it is.

4th Grade Play

The 4th Grade is doing a play!  The entire social studies lesson this quarter has been centered around the play.  They have learned names, dates, actions, about the birth of the state of Texas.  Then they acted it out as the final part of their lesson.

 

 

 

Mikayla was cast as the teacher.... to know Mikayla....is to know she is destined to be in a teaching capacity in some way/shape/or form.  She LOVES to teach (hence the 5x5 magnetic dry erase board hanging in her play room and overhead projector and many many lesson plans and some serious imagination....) actually to say she loves to teach is an understatement..... she LOVES to teach.  And she is not afraid to yell at her "kids"  (namely Nana and me)

 

 

The stage - Mikayla and her "students" are on the left of the stage and introduce each set of characters and talk about them before hand....then the rest of the class, sings/acts out the "lesson" on the right side.  Everyone had a very special part.

 

 

 

 

 

I am not ashamed to admit I had tears of pride/gratitude all weekend long at what a GREAT job all of these precious children did.

 

 

 

 

They enjoyed doing this and it really came through.

 

 

 

 

Seriously - so many proud mom moments.....

 

 

Funny thing about our beloved teachers.....

 

Ms. V in kindergarten left the school after Ms class and moved to another school. 

First grade teacher Mrs. H - left the teaching field completely after Ms class. 

Second grade teacher Mrs. K - left that school when we did and came to our new school after Ms class. 

Third grade teacher Mrs. N - moved out of teaching into administration after Ms class.....

 

Do you see the trend.  We were wondering if the trend would continue....and.... it has.  Mrs. F is moving into administration after Ms class this year......  Mikayla says oh gosh why am I such a curse... I said you aren't  curse, you are the blessing that provides different opportunities for all of these teachers....

Below is the program.  I still tear up thinking how incredibly awesome this experience was for all of us.  Especially Mikayla.  Seriously.... WOW.....

 

 

Wow!  uh oh..... proud mom moment....tears are present... that sure seems to happen a lot!  She is just such a beautiful person.... BEAUTIFUL!!!  In an email from the teacher she said that she went to lunch with her mom after the play and her mom even commented how mature and beautiful the teacher was. 

 

See.....proud mom moment.... ok, I'll stop for now..... it's good though..... it's really good!!!
