Getting ready for school.

I cannot believe how fast summer has gone and in 2 short weeks, school starts again.  Every year I think Mikayla really looks forward to her new backpack.... and this year was no different, we have a few backpacks that would totally work...but that's not as fun as getting a new one... LOL

 

 

 

yes....she brings it to bed with her.... every.single.night.....  it is already loaded with the extra supplies we needed to provide.

I love it!  It makes me happy to make her happy!

 

The Alamo Excursion

 

We have decided that we are going to start taking excursions to see sights that we haven't see or don't remember seeing.  We have been to the Alamo before but with Mikayla's 4th grade studies being on the Alamo, she asked if we could go see it.  So we did!

 I do confess though....I wanted to have more family pictures on our excursions...so I bought a selfie stick....Ohhhhh that thing is FUN!!!!!  Mikayla and I are hooked!  The men were tolerant...LOL

Let me tell you... it was SOOOOO hot!  The heat index was about 116 degrees out.  Michael was getting over heated so in order to continue having fun..... we needed food, water and an indoor activity.... none of which I had planned (well food and water I figured we'd find but I had a bunch of other outside activities for us...boo...)

 

We went over to the Water Center Mall.  Inside the mall they have a permanent Alamo exhibit!  It was one of the best museum's I've been to...(I probably say that about all of them...but that's ok, this was fantastic)

 

 

 

 

 

We had the recorder that would guide us by number to tell the story of that exhibit.  Mikayla was SOOOO into it... we all were but I'm really happy for her.

 

 

 

The best part...besides all of it.... they had a reenactment exhibit... we were kind of laughing and joking with the "guard".... but then as we continued through, the actors were VERY convincing in their roles to scare the you know what out of us.... showing how scary and intense the fighting really was, 13 days for them and 3 minutes for us.....  It was an eye opening experience for me.

 

It was intense...

 

Mikayla screamed, scared me, the soldiers were coming out of the wood work.....it was INTENSE!  We ran right the heck through the rest of the exhibit to get out of it.... I have NO idea what my dad and Michael were doing... did they lollygag and look around...I have no idea!!

 

 

Good times for sure.

VBS

Whew!  I LOVE summer time!  We've been gloriously busy but oh my, it has been FUN!!!!

 

So Mikayla has had VBS, vacation, mermaids, cheer camp and next week is faith formation camp.  Whew!!  then school starts three weeks later WAAAAA  I am not ready to let go of this awesomness!

 

So I'm backtracking a bit.... Mikayla LOVED her VBS experience.  Unfortunately this is her last year as a participant.  Next year she is planning to shadow an adult volunteer.  Yay!!!

 

 

We always do the evening session, it's less crowded and well, easier for this momma's work schedule.

Cheer Camp

OHHHH my!!  I think Mikayla is having the best summer of her whole life! LOL.  every.single.thing!  She is SOOOOO excited!!

 

This week she had cheer camp at school. They are starting a cheer club and about 25 girls have signed up.  Almost all of them were able to make it this week.

 

Here they are having a little snack before they perform for us.

 

 

They are lined up and ready.  I tell you every single girl had a GREAT time.  All of the moms were discussing how much fun they had.

 

 

 

 

 

 

They learned a cheer for the 2nd week of school to perform at assembly.  They learned a dance, how to count the beats to not only dance together but with the music, jumps and how to "fly".... (aka throwing the girls up in the air and catching them)

 

The coach is a parent volunteer and she is AMAZING!!!

Almost every night this week...Mikayla would get into bed acting like she was about 100 years older than she was...the 3 hours a day of cheer then at least an hour of swimming at night...she was EXHAUSTED...she said oh my back ow ow ow ow ow ow....oh my legs.... ow ow ow ow ow..... then general ow ow ow ow ow ow and then...... I didn't hear a peep out of her.

Speaking of mermaids......

Mikaya spent some of her hard earned money to buy a monofin.  She has had SOOOOO much fun. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I am honestly shocked at how much she loves it and how good she is at it!  She has watched enough videos that she simply put it on and went to town.  There was NO looking back once she started.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

so once we determined that she was going to use and play with the monofin.... we took it one step further.....

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

To say she loves it..... is a total understatement.  She told me yesterday that if there was one thing she would want to be, it would be to be a mermaid.

 

She LOVES it!

 

I am a proud momma!  She is SOOOO good at it too!!!
