Almost the fastest project ever!

Katie found the most awesome tutorial ever on a quick and easy way to do a silhouette and I couldn't wait to try it.  I've really been wanting to make one but finding the time and patience for little girls to sit still....well, I haven't been able to do one.

So I had this picture hanging in our bedroom, I'm not overly attached to it so I wanted to go ahead and reuse the frame.

I have this picture of Mikayla from Christmas 2010, so I enlarged it to an 8x10 and cut around her profile....

If only I had thought to take a picture of the pretty before it became ... well dotted with paint LOL - after cutting out the profile, I painted the other side black to make the silhouette.

I then mounted it on a 12x12 piece of paper.

then covered the picture that I didn't mind covering with burlap fabric, then mounted the 12x12 on top of that...and viola!  Silhouette!!!  She's hanging back up right where I took her down from.   (poor picture quality....it's a cell phone picture ;) I'll take a better picture one of these days.

I love getting projects started and completed!!  The rest of my weekend projects seemed to be a do - redo and haven't been redone yet.... LOL

Mikayla participated with a cheer camp at school.  She went to a 4 hour training camp and then was able to cheer at a varsity girls basket ball game at school.  She had a BLAST!!! 

Here are some pictures from the game.  In the pictures below she's way on the far left... she just ran down there and went far!!  I guess I have to work on getting her to stay on my side for picture taking purposes.

So, I'm one of those people that constantly has songs stuck in my head...I'll whistle or attempt to sing them for days at a time... so these cheers.... oh my... I'm really in cheer land... so put on your cheer voice and chant and or stomp with me....

YEA.... I'm on day 3 of that in my head....  this morning Mikayla's attempt to help me get it out was to sing the ABCs... well it worked while we were singing that... but well.... it's back LOL!!!

Say Cheese

I know I say it a lot....but seriously how can this little girl only be 6.... she looks so much older to me!! I guess I expect to still see my little baby and then I get surprised that she's growing up on me.

My Goofy Girl!

We had some time and needed to burn off some energy so who's up for a dance on a newly built stage...er, I mean gazebo.... well anywhere is a stage right?

My gosh I love this goofy gal!!! We had a lot of fun just being goof balls.

and I may or may not have been spotted doing a wicked Tango on the stage too... 1, 2, 3, rock back...1, 2, 3 rock back...complete with twirls and dips.. um... yea... ;) too bad there aren't any pictures of this... or not... you know, becuase it may or may not have happened! LOL!!

Little Fixer Uppers

I'm always striving to have a comfortable and nice looking home. Granted my project list is so long that post it notes for my to do lists weren't cutting it so I "had" to transfer it to excel, separated by room and what I wanted to do to that room to make it new and fresh again. Here a a couple of teeny things I've been doing.

I will attempt to remember to do before/after pictures...but more often than not I forget until afterwards. LOL

Here we have the newly painted powder room. I'm not completely done in there but here are some little things.

This frame below, I got a template, frost sprayed it on the glass, secured the glass in the frame, and made the wreath out of felt. I'm not sure it will survive in this room (meaning it might get moved somewhere else but for now....here it is.

here is a little shelf I hung in there, also the towel rack below it, used to be shiny shiny silver... :) I am seriously loving the ultimate power of spray paint!

Thanks to pinterest, I'm finding neat ways of organizing and reorganizing. This is a simple thing I've done in the master closet. It was really getting bogged down, so I not only rearranged the whole thing, I took out a 6 foot book shelf (was holding my towels), removed a smaller white shelf, moved stuff around, put the linens inside the door in the dresser below, and the stuff that was in the dresser, I put in baskets and then hung them up (thank you pinterest). I may redo a few things that will require moving these baskets, but for now... here they are :)

Next is my floor lamp in the living room. I'm going to be spray painting a few more fixtures but I just HAD to spray something, so this was my next victim LOL. It started out a marbly greenish color....

Immediate transformation to this color, it's not black and it's not brown...something in between and it's beautiful! Everything will be this color soon LOL (meaning there are definitely more targets for my spray paint!)

So hopefully I'll keep working on my projects and get my house updated and fresh and maybe just a little bit wow, but the best part is just making it home!!!

WOW!!

So report cards came out yesterday, not surprisingly Mikayla got really high marks in all categories, we have a few teeny areas to work on for next time (like counting to 100 by 2s) but all in all she got EXCELLENT marks. I was beyond impressed and just absolutely proud of our little girl because of the picture below!!!!! I had no idea this even existed for kindergarten.


One word....


WOW!!!!





So she's on the Honor Roll and she got another ribbon for Excellent Conduct!!! I couldn't be any prouder of her than I am!!!

Now, I try not to put a lot of pressure on all the academics, I figure she does it all day, we don't have any major areas of concern so it's all good. I worry more about her being well rounded and able to cope and handle herself socially as much as I do anything else...so this is just the icing on the cake!

Tank the Turtle

Tank the turtle from Mikayla's school decided to tag along with us as we journeyed to a convention out of town. Here you can see Tank and Mikayla (he's kind of hard to see but he's there).

A little history on Tank. Mikayla's class has a pet turtle named (you guessed it) Tank. So her teacher came up with the idea for the kids to bring a stuffed Tank home for a weekend and do an assignment with him. So he came home in his special bag complete with journal and pencil for Mikayla to do her assignment. She was the first in her class to do it so we took pictures with tank, she wrote about their weekend and put some pictures in there too.

Hopefully Tank will have just as much fun with all of the other children! What a great time he'll have!

The dress up clothes are a HUGE hit!!! I'm so happy she loves them!!! Santa chose well :)

Rainforest Cafe and a Birthday Celebration!!

Mikayla took some great pictures!!! I love that she loves her new camera (well most of the time, considering the angle of some of her pictures and timing.... LOL - not the most flattering, but it's all good).

So we met up with Janet, Mark, Jason, Whitney and Bryce (he will be turning 3). Here are some pictures from our evening.

Bryce got a "volcano cake" well every single time they came out from the kitchen...they (and others) would shout VOLCANO.......well the hecticness and activity in there was a bit overwhelming!! So when his cake came.... he needed a little reassurance from his Gma!!

I love seeing the kids run and play!!

We really had a great time!!! It's always so fun! Its always good when you wish you had more time with them because you had so much fun! (again, little miss fell asleep in the car on the way home, she barely woke up to walk up the stairs to her room, she was walking wich much assistance from me, but she was NOT awake LOL) I was putting her pajama's on, and her eyes were closed, she just flopped onto the bed and was out till the next morning!
