Party Party Party!!

We've gone to several parties in the recent past.... and it's funny, even though it wasn't our party to prepare for and plan it sure is exhausting!  Fun but tiring!!

Few More School Bulletin Boards

Here are a few of the spring boards I've been able to work on at school.

 

 

 

The one below, spring just threw up it's happiness!  I love it!!! it's so fun and full of happiness!  (I am disappointed my green text didn't show up as well as I wanted it to.... live and learn, these boards are huge!!  12 feet long by 4 1/2 tall.  So I'm still learning, I am getting the scale /size of what I need to make much better than it was in the beginning, I was making things too small.

 

 

 

 

And the hot air balloons....those babies were the first images I'd actually bought with my new cricut machine, to say I'm hooked on my crafty toys is an understatement!

 

 

Sadly, there might only be one more set of bulletin board play for this school year.  I have really enjoyed making them.  They are a tremendous amount of work planning, cutting, assembling then by the time I get to the school I'm hours of work into it, but it's fun...I love crafting with a purpose!

 

I do have to say that the 4th grade teacher, at the science fair was talking to me about Mikayla's project board, and she said "oh....YOU're the bulletin board mom....no wonder hers is so good"  I did say that SHE did the work because she did, I just helped with the layout of it..... LOL! looks like I might have another board to play with next year.  I do have to say that doing two classroom's worth has been a challenge and LOT of work especially since they're due all at the same time...but that's ok too. It's been fun!

 

 

Field Trip!!

I feel so lucky to have a workplace that allows for "Community Service" days giving me the opportunity to be involved with some of Mikayla's fun school stuff.  I signed right up to be a chaperone for the field trip to the Children's Museum.

OHHHHH it was a great day!!!! We were there a few years ago and it was ok, but this time.....we got to see and do a bunch of different things there.

The whole entire school went!!!  When we got there the museum was ready with staff members waiting to take their group and go see what they were going to see.

then we were all supposed to go to a park for an alfresco lunch..... well it was torrentially down pouring outside so we all went back to school and had a picnic there.

 

It was FANTASTIC.  I'm so happy to go on these trips!!! 

Science Fair at School

Well, what can I say. I LOVE doing these projects.... Some may say I enjoy it wayyyy too much but that's ok because I didn't do these things as a kid so now I know a little more than I did then and get to do them  now! 

Mikayla's school was doing a science fair...and having never been to one, I hit up pinterest for ideas....who am I kidding, I would have gone there anyway!

We - yes WE, Mikayla was very involved in her project..... we chose soap monsters!

What we did was purchase four different kinds of soap and microwave them for two minutes....and documented what happened.

Mikayla carefully measured and weighed the bars prior to microwaving and again afterwards.

The results were very fascinating!  The only thing I'm not a fan of is our food/drinks tasting like soap from "cooking" soap in the microwave.... one month later and it STILL smells like soap.  Michael is not thrilled with me.

Then after we accumulated all of our data.  Mikayla and I wrote her report and got her display board all set up.

Here is the end result!  She's READY for the fair to begin!

She truly did the work, I helped with the layout and some ideas but she did it!  (much to my crafty dismay she was doing our project, humph).

Her board generated LOT of interest and conversation.  That was really neat to see!

At the end of the day she won the "Most Creative Board" award and was also mentioned in the weekly school newsletter.  She wasn't happy that she didn't win to advance to the next round but for our first fair...I'm thrilled we won anything at all!!!

It was a good time!!!!

Donuts with Dad

today Mikayla's school was having donuts with dad day!  They seemed to have a really great time and was a fun way to start the day.  The principal did kind of joke with the dads (because they didn't really know the morning routine/prayers/etc) about how glad the moms probably were today HA!

 

  

 

 

I think it's neat that they do this.... I know Michael loved it!!  He can't believe his little girl is getting s grown up!

Happy Easter!!

Wow, I got a little behind in posts but don't worry, they'll be coming!

 

We started our Easter by dying our eggs!!! It is always so much fun!!!!  It's kind of sad when it's all over! 

 

 

 

Well.....there it is again...that secret egg!!  the one that as tradition has it...isn't hardboiled but yet is included in the dying process.....

We had Easter Eve over at my brother-in-law/sister-in-law's house.  The kids all got to go swimming!!  

 

 

that big ol pool and the kids were in a clump playing together!  isn't that hilarious.  The dog kept jumping in the pool with them too, he got in trouble!

It was an insanely FUN night!!!!  Seriously a great time!!

 

Easter Morning! after church (We got to the church at 6:30 am…. And would you believe the church was PACKED!!! We were shocked!! So we went ahead and went into the overflow room (they had a second area all set up for double services to happen at the same time, we decided that the visitors could have our seats and maybe they’ll come back more often J I was surprised it was so busy but it was AWESOME!!!

 

When we got home..... THE EASTER BUNNY HAD ALREADY COME!!!

Mikayla was SOOOOOOO into getting ready for our Easter dinner, she set the table all by herself, she peeled potatoes, she made French onion dip...that one threw her for a loop because I was letting her do it by herself...she was fired up and kept telling me that she couldn't believe I was taking her so seriously.  SO seriously!

 

 

She also said she was the best party planner that there was!

 We made some panoramic eggs!  TOTALLY fun, I'm addicted and so is Mikayla and I think we started a new tradition for us!

 

Start with sugar and egg white.

 

 

Mold it, dry it slightly, scoop out the insides.....

 

 

Put them together....

 

 

Add your scene inside and decorate with frosting.

 

 

 

 

 

 

FUN!!!

 

 

 

Seriously - this was one of the best Easter's we have had in a long time.  It was everything I wanted and needed it to be.  It didn't feel quite so lonely this year!  yay!!!  Truly GREAT times and memories!!
