A Crafty Kind of Weekend

Hello!  We have been busy crafting to our hearts content!  Below we have our Model with her new purse made out of duct tape!  Can you believe it!

 

Mikayla mad the purse with very minimal help!!  Such fun!

 

 

 

Dramatic poser!!

 

That led to me wanting to do some work in Mikayla's room.  Out of the newly and COMPLETELY sorted/unpacked/put away garage, I picked out about 5 frames I could use.  Then after laying it out on her bed started to hang it up.  Notice the empty frames on the left side.

 

 

moved a few things around..... (take note of the two empty white canvas on the wall) and the newly framed pictures I made :)

 

 

 while the wall stuff was happening upstairs - I was also painting this mirror downstairs....

 

 

 

Now that I knew the direction that the canvas was going to hang (portrait vs landscape), I cut out some vinyl to put on.

 

 

then spray painted it.

 

 

 

Then rehung them back up again!

 

 

We moved her bed around, moved some shelves around, cleaned up a LOT of stuffed animals - more to follow on that) and here is how her room looks now.

Now for those uncontrollable stuffed animals!  Mikayla has sooooo many - I remember I loved all my stuffies too (and truth be told, Mikayla has some of them) but we had a big big problem.  There was NO room in her closet because the zoo was let loose.  So we had to do something about it!

 

 

We took them all out and did in fact decide that none could be parted with. Ok.... I knew that was going to be the answer...LOL

 

 

I then took ALL of those teeny tiny peanuts that were inside her bean bag (there were 4 trash bags of the little gems).... we then proceeded to FILL that bean bag with all the stuffies.

 

You wouldn't believe it....  THEY ALL FIT!!!  so we have a very comfortable, heavy but oh so much easier on the eyes bean bag full of love!!!

 

 

She kept out her build a bears.... and I moved her dresser into the closet.

 

 

ahhhhhh and peace has been restored to the land once again.

 

 

Little Flowers for January

I really enjoy this program.  I'm so happy we've had the opportunity to participate.  This month the girls all made their epiphany boxes, they can add nice things/deeds they've done by writing it on a card and placing it inside.  Then at the end of the year they can go back and look at all of the gifts they gave Jesus with their good deeds.  Isn't that a neat idea.  Now to execute it.

Next month we are in charge of the craft...I'm armed and ready!!!  I just need a few more pair of needle nose pliers. 

 

New Years Day trip to American Girl

WOO HOO Happy New Year!!!  We started off the year with a bang and Mikayla for the first time (on purpose) made it all the way to midnight and we all rang in the new year together.  Granted her eyes were red/glossy and exhausted but she made it!!!

We started off the morning by going to the American Girl store.  Mikayla had saved up enough money (and had a gift card) that enabled her to make a trip there.

I did NOT expect what we got into when we got there.  There were easily over 100 people in line in front of us - waiting to meet the new girl of the year..... Isabelle.  I was shocked!!!

 

 

They had the whole process sooooo organized it was really wonderfully pulled together. So we waited in line and chatted with the people around us.

 

 

And we FINALLY made it in.  Isabelle is a ballerina and she designs clothes.

 

 

So Mikayla found the doll that "speaks" to her (and we snatched her right up and then waited in line again to pay).   It was crazy...I mean this stuff isn't cheap and one guy was counting up what he had...and it was over $1,000 WOW!!  I love going here because Mikayla earned it... she did her chores and incentives to be there.  She really takes good care of her girls too.

There were three or four people that their only job of the day was to keep the shelves where Isabelle was - stocked!  They made circles from the stock room to the floor.  They really had it together and made it a great experience.

 

 

I did buy her some of the accessories too, I can't help myself. 

 

 

Then they had a craft area - where the girls could color in the paper doll outfits. 

 

 

 

Then to celebrate the girl of the year, they had a local ballet company come and perform.  They were awesome!!!

 

 

 

 

And of course in their finale, they held up Isabelle.  I'm sure they made more girls have to wait in line and go get more stuff.

 

 

It was FUN, a bit overwhelming, and well just a WOW kind of experience.  So now we get to know Isabelle.  So far McKenna and Saige have been very welcoming to their new sister.

Christmas Day!!!

What a special Christmas we had (bit delayed but that's ok...)  Mikayla woke up later than usual - we made it asleep until about 6:00 (which was great after going to bed around 2:00).

 

Little missy scored some seriously rockin American Girl goodies!!

 

 She was shouting MOMMY DADDY HE CAME!!!!!  MOMMY DADDY MOMMY DADDY OH MY GOSH!!!!!  MY MY MY MY WHITE TRUNDLE BED MOMMY DADDY!!!

 

She was in love with it all :)

 

 

She'd been dying to get into the big boxes that were there waiting for her....taunting her... under the tree.  So she picked one of those first.

 

 

Hello American Girl horse!!  I was taking all the credit for that one!!!!  (not sharing with the man that wears red and visits the world).

 

 

She scored some awesome stuff for her dolls!  she was in HEAVEN!!  Who am I kidding, we all were, I love Christmas.

After the presents were opened and exchanged, we got ready for our fun filled Christmas day.  Dad came over and we had a ton of food, some more presents and stockings.  Then after everything settled down and dark came, we drove around and looked at lights. 

 

It really was perfect!!  Just perfect!!!!  What a fabulous Christmas season it's been!!!!  All of us really had the spirit this year and that made it perfect!!!
