Doggie Door

Well I have never really give thought to getting a dog door because I was not willing to cut into the house.... or get new doors right now....however, I knew Bella was dog door trained.... so I was able to find this gem..... It goes in the WINDOW!!!!

 

Our window are low so it shouldn't be any problem.  After MUCH deliberation and talking me off the ledge about critters coming in that don't belong there, I jumped in and went for it. 

 

 

Totally unintrusive.  Would you even really know it was there if you didn't know it was there?

 

 

Well hello baby girl.... I don't think we need to worry about a person trying to fit through.

I officially have proof that she uses it.  My mother in law was there and went looking for Bella, couldn't find her....couldn't find her, so went into our room to see if she was in there...and she wasn't, she looked outside and turns out she was in the back....  she called Bella over and she came flying through her "trap door" instead of the big door.  So there we have it!  YAY!!!!!  (now she does forget sometimes that she can come back in the same way...she'll whine at the door to get in.... one step at a time.  I can't wait until she figures out that she can come outside to greet us home at night!

Steps for Students

We had so much fun participating in this event.  There were over 15,000 people coming to walk/run a 5K to raise money for their catholic school.  We got there at about 7:00 am and found our people to visit with and then went to the line up and went for a walk.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

They were flying a drone!  HA!  I had just finished telling Michael he should have brought his, we looked up and saw one!

 

 

It was great, our school raised almost $60,000.  Yay!!! 

Well.... a little fella

We found a new member to add to our family.  Her name is Bella!  I will secretly call her Little Fella though because when Mikayla was about 2 years old, our cousins had a dog named Bella and Mikayla couldn't get her name quite right and called her the Little Fella.  Isn't that sweet!!!! 

I work with a lady that is a foster mom for countless dogs.  Trying to help find them good homes where they can live their lives happily and well taken care of.

After we lost our Allie, we have taken a LONG time to recover.  We still miss her and talk of her.  When I saw this little dog at work...I just felt like she could be the one.  She was so sweet, knows no strangers, and if I'm completely truthful, I think she might be able to help our little Abbie's heart some from being so sad without Allie.

So here we are, we really got her for Mikayla but in the long run I think she's going to help all of us.  I have never seen such a sweet heart! 

Here is Abbie and Bella's first meeting.  It was the smoothest/easiest introduction I have ever witnessed.

We then all went into the house, I did go ahead and put Abbie outside so Bella could sniff and snoop all she wanted, then we went out back with Abbie for more sniffing and snooping.

That was it, then we went back inside.... Abbie knows she's there....but it just seems like Bella has always been there.

We made it through our first meal time... it was easy - Abbie is on special food now so we'll keep them separate for feeding.

Valentine's Day!!

About a week before Valentine's Day, Mikayla starts asking about her "special table setup".... she is always concerned if I'm going to do it for her or not.  I guess I am!  :)

 

 

It was also a very special day because Katie's little girl Hailey was baptized at their church.  It was a beautiful experience.  We are so happy to have been included in her celebration.

100th Day of school

Mikayla's teacher emailed me and said "how the time flies".....

I was wondering what in the world she was talking about....

Until....

I opened it and saw this picture.

I guess the time is going fast...and here I thought I wouldn't be able to see Mikayla at 100 years old!  HA!!!
