Salute!

My dad came on Friday to take Mikayla to school (and go to the dedication mass).

 

 

Then she was sort of at the right place at the right time and was able to help put the flags up for the day - she loved helping!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

She is so happy to help!!!!  We made it through our first full day - and it was FUN!  yay!!!  I pray the rest of the year goes this way too!

It seems like so much has happened since school started.  Mikaya LOVES her new teacher she says she is JUST like Ms. K from last year but is totally different.   um... ok.

 

She also says that the teacher said she won't give much homework.... I totally don't believe that but I'm not about to be the bearer of bad news!

 

On Friday they had the dedication mass for the new school.  It was amazing!  There were seven priests-deacons presiding the mass. It was just impressive to see it all come together.

 

I was glad not to be the only mom that needed Kleenex.  It was a great service. Fr. Sean did the mass for the kids, and really brought a lot of fun into the service.  Even more fun for us is that Fr. Sean used to do the mass for our niece and nephew at a different school. 

 

Today is the first full day of school, I am sure she'll have a great day but will be tired tonight.

 

So my Sunday night fridge now looks like this again - lunch for two ready to go!  (Michael usually grabs lunch out/with his clients)

 

 

This is Mikayla this morning - she was so happy I let her have a doughnut!  Ha!

 

 

And feeling no pain on the way to school, she was singing into her microphone (aka phone charger) and having a blast on the way to school!

 

 

 

I love when mornings are like this!!!

First Day of Third Grade!

Let me start by saying that we are thrilled to be able to attend our own home parish church school!!  I remember saying that back when Mikayla started school how much I wished our church had a school!  and now.... here it is!!!!

 

It's amazing that we have the opportunity to go to school in this brand new amazing facility. 

 

 

Here's my girl this morning.

 

 

The other night we had parent orientation and I have to tell you I boo hoo'd from the opening prayer and about five times throughout.... it's just amazing to see something that began as an idea about 8 years ago...it came to reality.  When Father Sean choked up declaring for the very first time "school is open"..... just wow.  We left orientation humbled, honored, excited, touched, wow'd, amazed and every single word in between.  We are beyond thrilled to take this new adventure with the brand new school in it's very first year.  Just WOW!  Seriously WOW!!!!!

 

Mikayla's ready!!!!!  She's been nervous this whole time about new school, the new schools very first day of existence.... new everything (including all technology learning to enhance text book learning)even though she already knows two teachers there and 4 other kids in her class ...she was nervous. 

 

until....

 

yesterday at back to school-meet the teacher (which we already met at the popsicle party but whatever) she was PUMPED and ready to be back in the game.  She wants to join the choir so I signed her up and we'll see what happens from here.  There are several other options for after school programs but for now choir is the thing to do!!!

 

So here we are.... first day of third grade!!!

ok, we're here now.... we were early.... and as anxious as the principal was for the carpool to start... NOT one car went through car pool - ha ha ha  every single parent walked their kids in today.  They had hoped for up to 120 kids to enroll.... currently enrolled there are 169 kids, K-4 and adding a grade each year through 8th grade.

 

 

Our beloved teacher from last year!  Getting that first hug - then our soon to be beloved teacher for this year got the second hug.

and just like that..... they're off to new adventures, new learning.... new everything.....

 

 

I have a 3rd grader..... wow. 

 

 

A flash back.......waaaaaaa where has the time gone, I don't know why but third grade is hitting me right in the heart this year.  HARD!!!!  I needed to go to breakfast with the boo hoo kinder moms this year.

 

Just to twist my momma heart a little here's a little refresher of our first days of school so far.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It's official.... and a lot of wow... just wow! 

 

 

A quick follow up to Bat Girl......

Last night when I picked Mikayla up, we were getting settled in the car and she looks at me as I was asking her about her day.  She says to me, and she was SO serious I thought she had something bad to say, "Mom, it was the best day today, I really  wish I could do it again tomorrow!" 

WOW!!!!

I tell you, it does a Mom's heart good!!!

Bat Girl to the Rescue!

I tell you, I couldn't be more pleased with the day camp we chose for Mikayla this year.  She has had SOOOO much fun!  which makes a momma have fun too, knowing that she's having fun!

 

Today was Hero vs. Villain day.... so who are we....

 

BAT GIRL!!!!  (I was able to recycle the Bat Girl costume from Halloween last year)  just had to cut a new mask and new bat for her tshirt.

When we got to school.... oh my gosh!!!  The kids flocked around her like she was a rock star...it was AWESOME!!!  I left her there and as I was leaving I had the biggest smile on my face just seeing her greeting this morning.  It was truly a WOW moment for me!  I think she was surprised to see everyone, seriously EVERYONE coming to her and surrounding her!

3rd Grade!! Here we come!

Well, I can't believe it but it's just about here.  So we're gearing up for our new school and new school year.  Starting with our annual trip to build a bear!

 

She already knew who she was going to pick out to be her newest friend.

Then in what seems to be typical Kirsten fashion lately.... we had to RUN out of the store because we puttered around in there so long we were almost late for our 4:00 dental appointments... only to find out it was at 3:30 and they were wondering where we were, even though my text reminder messages said 4:00.......so we were late anyway... UGH!  so  I don't have a final picture of her with her new friend we were running!!!
