Here is our super star dancer before her big show.  I brought her a snack to have some energy to sustain her through her dances.  I'm really not sure who this young lady is...where is my baby????

 

 

I kid you not, this was the best recital ever!  It was soooo fun! and doesn't her dance instructor pick out the best costumes!!

One last time

Mikayla got to wear her First Communion dress one more time.  All of the second graders were allowed to wear their dresses/suits to school today for church and a reception where they are going to get cake and sprite (according to Mikayla).

 

 

I will confess, I didn't know what to do with her short hair...yikes!!!  I had it up in a pony, tried to put it in a bun, then a different bun, then yes a third kind of bun....none of them were working acceptably so she wore it down and I used the topsy tail on a small section - phew!

 

 

um...when did she get this grown up?

 

 

 

 

I had to take this picture...she was looking in the mirror because she bit her lip.  I did ask her if she was ok before taking picture LOL!

 

 

I think this concludes our First Communion celebrations (for now at least).

Another life changing event this week

You might guess......  It's not life changing for us (well too much) but it will help someone else.  Mikayla decided it's time to cut her hair again and donate it to Locks of Love.

ACK!!!!  We're taking off a foot of hair - I have been teased recently about how most people talk about hair in inches...while my house talks about hair in foot measurements HA!!

She was excited to wear it down today to show her friends. I told her that I still get to do pony's and braids though.

First Communion Day

Well now that it has come and gone, I can't believe it's gone already.

 

Here she is at home before we left :)

 

 

 She was pretty nervous but then after talking with the kids there, they were all nervous.

Some of her little friends.  We were in the "holding" room before they processed into the church.  We had the choice to do it with her school mates or at our church - she really wanted to be with her friends.

Gosh little girls are fun!!!!!  They were all fixing each other and really enjoying being dressed up for the occassion.  Gracie and Mikayla are great friends.

 

 

 

We weren't allowed to take pictures in the church but they did have a professional photographer there.

 

They arranged the kids by height - she was near the end, we thought we missed her coming in because it seemed like it was taking so long.

 

Our "cousin" Tyler!!  We were so happy he could come!

 

 

We went to a Tuscan Grille for lunch afterwards to celebrate.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Her friend Brandon (below on the left) brought her flowers to the restaurant too. Isn't that SO sweet!

It was so incredibly special

It was everything Mikayla wanted and needed it to be

She didn't experience any disappointments on her day, which was very important to me

She was a bit overwhelmed, in a good way

 

She IS different now

 

She did grow up on me just a bit more on Saturday.
