Well my car trip and every.single.other.non.occupied.second was spent making a mermaid blanket/towel.
It was a complicated pattern to follow but I was ACHING to get it done for Mikayla. I hooked and hooked and hooked and hooked!!! I hooked until my arms were numb and sore! Just the fin part took about 6 hours.
We were in Destin and I was STILL hooking while out on the patio!! But.... I FINISHED IT!!!! yay!!!
The funniest part is that it was taking me much longer than anticipated... so I had to break it out while Mikayla was awake.... and I told her I was making a table runner. LOL!! (should it bother me that me telling her it was a table runner didn't even phase her......) I was tickled pink because she kept eying it and saying how pretty the stitch was and the color..... EEEKK Sooo excited
The yarn non-yarn is FABULOUS it's like a tshirt material and not a true yarn, it is amazing to work with....
Here it is - not quite finished but getting closer.....
Ta-Da!!
Now it is supposed to fold up into a backpack..... this is the pattern.....
Here is my first attempt at folding it..... um.... not so good.
then, the magic happened......
She was ELATED with it.
I told her in secret that it really wasn't a table runner.... her eyes got big...
I told her it was a mermaid towel/blanket...and her eyes got bigger.....
I told her I made it for her.... and her eyes got huge and leaked out happy/loved tears.... and I got the hug of a lifetime!
She couldn't believe it.
Now since we were in Florida and there were 2 girls and 1 blanket...I presented it to the girls as mine but that I was willing to share with them but they had to work out an argument free way to share.
She has curled up with it almost every day since then.....
So has Bella....hee heee heeeee Merdog wanted out! She prefers to lay on top of it....
(shhhh, I have already started another one! I LOVE making these! Little Bella won 't leave my side so she got herself tangled up in the yarn)
